We told you about it last year... We're happy to announce that the first shovels were turned this week!
The passion for fruit continues at Distillerie de Biercée with the creation of our own orchard around the distillery. 180 native fruit trees have just been planted for use in our spirits by 2027.
The orchard is managed using sustainable agriculture, with respect for the environment and a focus on short distribution channels. It is made up of old varieties of apple, pear, cherry, plum and mirabelle trees typical of the Walloon region. To obtain these forgotten varieties, we worked with a regional nursery that holds "certifruit" certification. This guarantees
the origin and adaptation of the plants to our region and favours local, artisanal production - a shared philosophy. The orchard will be maintained naturally by Cameroonian sheep, who will ensure continuous grass-cutting and a regular supply of fresh organic matter.
Implementing a horticultural project that respects the environment while ensuring biodiversity through sustainable agriculture is another fine project that underlines our motto: "From the earth to the glass".
